Safe, compliant removal of asbestos-containing materials from homes and commercial premises across London. We carry out non-licensed asbestos work under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, covering garage roofs, cement sheeting, floor tiles, Artex, flue pipes, soffits, water tanks, and more.
Licensable materials — sprayed coatings, pipe lagging, most AIB — are referred to a licensed contractor. We are honest about scope because it protects you.
Scope & Honesty
The single most important thing to understand about asbestos removal is that not all materials are the same. The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 divides work into three categories: non-licensed, notifiable non-licensed (NNLW), and licensed. Diamond performs the first two. The third requires an HSE licence that we do not hold — and we will always tell you that upfront, because doing licensable work without a licence is a criminal offence.
If we find licensable material on your property, we will make the area safe and refer you to a vetted HSE-licensed contractor. We can still handle any non-licensed materials on the same job. Read more about licensable work referrals.
From our work
The most common mistake we see is a homeowner who has already had three quotes before calling us — and none of those contractors identified that the soffit boards were AIB, not cement. AIB is a licensable material. The other contractors would have removed it illegally, or walked off the job when they realised mid-removal.
Our intake process always starts with material identification. We ask for photos, we visit the site, and we test before we price. On a Lewisham terrace last year, what the owner described as "asbestos guttering" turned out to be a mix: the guttering itself was cement (non-licensed), but the soffit boards above it were AIB (licensed). We removed the guttering, made the soffit safe, and referred the AIB work to a licensed contractor — all in the same week.
That split-scope approach is not unusual. It is how responsible asbestos removal works. If a contractor quotes you for everything without testing first, that is a warning sign.
