Do I have to remove asbestos if I find it?

Not always. Asbestos in good condition and left undisturbed often poses little risk. A survey will tell you whether it's safer to remove it or manage it in place. If the material is damaged, crumbling, or in the way of building work, removal is the safer route.

Do I need to move out during the work?

For most non-licensed jobs, no. We seal off the work area and keep the rest of your home or premises usable. We'll tell you upfront if a job needs you to keep clear of a particular space.

What asbestos work do you do, and what do you refer on?

We handle non-licensed asbestos work: cement roofs and cladding, floor tiles, textured coatings like Artex, soffits, gutters, and similar materials. Some higher-risk materials legally require a licensed contractor. We don't carry that work out ourselves, but we'll point you to someone who is licensed.

How much does asbestos removal cost?

It depends on the material, the amount, access, and whether replacement work is needed. The survey and quote are free and carry no call-out charge, so you'll have a clear written price before anything starts.

What happens to the asbestos after you remove it?

Asbestos-cement sheds and outbuildings should be taken apart panel by panel, not demolished. The corrugated and flat sheets used in garden sheds, lean-tos, bike stores, and small outbuildings from the 1950s to the 1980s are brittle. A sheet that snaps releases airborne fibres. The safe approach is to unfasten each panel and lower it whole, which is how we handle every job.

How do I know if my shed is asbestos?

If your shed was built before 1985 and has corrugated or flat grey-green panels, it is very likely asbestos-cement. The only way to be certain is a sample test. We can take a sample during a free survey visit.

Can I remove an asbestos shed myself?

Technically, a homeowner can remove non-licensed asbestos from their own property, but we strongly advise against it. The risk of breaking a panel and releasing fibres is high without the right equipment and training. Disposal also requires a licensed facility.

How long does shed removal take?

A standard garden shed takes half a day to a full day. Larger outbuildings or those with damaged panels take longer. We give you a timeline in the quote.

What happens to the base?

We clear the base of all debris and leave it ready for whatever you plan next. If the base slab needs breaking out, that is quoted as a separate item.
